2. Up: Alliance System

Assassins Creed Valhalla

The main story in this game is enjoyable, it contains many twists and turns and the usual inclusion of real-life historical figures is always fun. The alliance system has much to do with this, as it breaks the long story mission into manageable chunks.

The alliance map is great as it gives you a sense of control over which story mission you would like to follow. You are restricted, depending what level you are but there are usually at least two areas that you can pledge to.

They usually end with an assault and sometimes a boss battle. The assaults are particularly enjoyable as you storm a stronghold with a giant battering ram. It typifies Viking warfare and they are a fun way to end a mission.

Importantly, each alliance is broken up into chapters, this is appreciated as it gives you a sense of how close you are to completing that section.

Story missions can often become the bane of a gamers life, with the alliance system breaking it into manageable chunks, it's not the case for Valhalla.
