Assassin's Creed: Valhalla Review - 7 Ups & 4 Downs

3. Down: Skill Tree Modifications

Assassins Creed Valhalla

In Valhalla your character has an overall power level. It is a great new addition to the franchise and an improvement on the old level up system. Regrettably, you have to take the good with the bad and the skill tree Modifications are absolutely woeful.

In previous games you could see what modifications you could achieve and aim towards getting them. With the hidden tree map in Valhalla, you have no idea what sort of modifications you are heading towards. It is a good idea but without having a clue as to what sort of mods you are going to get, it shortly loses its novelty.

It would be better if the tree was illuminated. As it is, players will just choose at random a direction to go and unlock modifications they hardly use. On top of this, the special abilities outshine the fairly ordinary mods you can achieve through skills points.

It is true you can reset all your points and start again but that shouldn’t have to be the case. Get it sorted Ubisoft.
