Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare - 10 New Details You Need To Know

3. There'll Be No Paid DLC Or Season Pass

For a long while now, we've been hearing rumours that the developers on Call of Duty have been getting increasingly sick of how the post-launch DLC has been rolled out. Back when Black Ops IV was first announced, there was the suggestion that the higher ups inside Treyarch were lobbying Activision to drop the season pass and release expansions for free.

It seemed to make sense, the industry has changed a lot since 2007, and most major multiplayer games roll out free content to keep players engaged and the player-base together, instead making money on microstransactions. Activision, however, have stuck to both revenue streams, charging for new maps while at the same time stuffing their games with loots boxes and currency that can be bought with real money.

Modern Warfare is changing all of that, however. For the first time, all future content drops are going to be free, and the regular Season Pass is no longer something that Activision will be charging money for. Of course, they're not doing this out the goodness of their heart (the drop off and backlash to Black Ops IV's post-launch content probably twisted their arm), and microtransactions in the form of COD points will still be present, but hopefully this should give the game way more longevity.
