8. Gun Handling Is SUPERB

The one thing any FPS lives or dies on: That quintessential "feel" of the weapons themselves.

Call of Duty has long been a premiere contender for best FPS of all time, and though many of us remember the original Modern Warfare being a punchy shooter, go back to it today, and you'll find a more weightless, "floaty" experience instead.

Indeed, from Destiny to DOOM and Titanfall 2, this generation's shooters have really stepped things up - in ways you don't realise until you directly compare to what came before.

In MW 2019's case, every gun feels distinct, weighty and momentous. Sniper rifles lug into view when you aim, but pistols are snappy and responsive. Something like the M4A1 is as reliable as ever, or you can pick a marksman rifle and experience some of the most satisfying one-shot kills in gaming.

Sound design across the board is phenomenal too, but the meat of COD is always in gun-handling.
