Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare Review - 6 Ups & 5 Downs
5. Ground War Is (Mostly) Awesome
The big new multiplayer innovation this year is the inclusion of a huge-scale, 64-player Ground War mode, and though it undeniably feels like an inferior spin on the epic Battlefield formula, it's still a ludicrously entertaining shake-up of the core formula.
There are many issues with it, as already mentioned, but when you get into the rhythm of it, it can be so much fun.
It is, simply, absolute chaos, and while many will find it exhaustingly over-crowded, it's great to see the franchise finally embracing larger player loads as fans have been requesting for many years now.
With the sheer wealth of combat and traversal options available to the player, Ground War is as creative and hilariously over-the-top as Modern Warfare gets.
You'll probably want to cleanse your palette with some of the game's more pared-down modes after a while, but given the ambition of implementing such a mode, it's far more of a success than not.
