Have you really beaten Final Fantasy VII if you haven't beaten Ruby Weapon?

One of the seven Weapons produced by the planet to protect it from deadly threats, Ruby is one of the toughest of the lot.

Rather than - you know - stopping Sephiroth from trying to destroy the planet, this red menace instead likes to hang out in the desert close to the Gold Saucer. It can only be reached by Chocobo or the Highwind, your trusty airship.

Once you're in battle, it's difficult not to be intimidated. Ruby Weapon towers over you, and won't hesitate to use devastating attacks on your party.

One of his most annoying attacks involves literally ejecting a character from battle. He can't actually even be damaged until one party member is left, either by ejection or by KO.

Then there's attacks such as Shadow Flare (around 5000 HP damage), Ruby Flame (3000 HP) and even regular use of Ultima, one of the strongest spells in the game. The beast will also counterattack the game's strongest (and coolest!) summon Knight of the Round with a cheeky Ultima spell afterwards.

There's all kinds of really complex methods for beating Ruby Weapon, ranging from entering the battle with one party member alive to spamming summons using materia setups.

When you're done, you'll feel good about yourself, and also get a Desert Rose which can be traded for a lovely gold chocobo.
