Final Fantasy VII Remake: 10 Huge Things That Could Go Terribly Wrong

9. Shoehorning Online Play In

Online gaming is practically ubiquitous in the modern age. There are few major releases that eschew the apparently desperate need of developers to get people online and playing together. While this is not always a bad thing - as a good online component can expand the lifespan of a game no end - with a title like Final Fantasy it simply isn't a requirement. Nobody will be playing the game so that they can play against or with others. It's all about the individual experience and enjoying the story presented to the player. Worse yet would be the inclusion of microtransactions. Does anybody want to play a remake of Final Fantasy VII if you can get all of the best equipment and Materia by simply throwing a bit of money Square's way? It would ruin the flow of the game, but such features are a definite possibility and should be avoided at all costs unless Square Enix can create an online experience that is truly worth taking part in.
