Final Fantasy XV: 10 Major Risks That Could Go Either Way

5. The Combat System

Ever since FFIX, Square Enix has tried to completely reinvent the franchises battle system with each major installment. FFXV is no exception, and instead of the traditional turned based paradigm that€™s defined much of the series, is instead going with a system that can only be called 'Kingdom Hearts on steroids'. The player exclusively takes control of Noctis, with the other party members taking the roles of support NPCs and as components of special group attacks in a similar fashion to how Donald and Goofy help Sora with Trinity Attacks. This approach worked rather well in the demo, even with most of the more extravagant features cut out, and when fully implemented it could be a fast, frantic, and wonderfully over-the-top combat experience. Really, this one comes down to personal taste. Kingdom Hearts fans will probably eat it up eagerly, but purists for the franchise's earlier instalments may find the new approach off-putting.
