Final Fantasy XV: 10 Major Risks That Could Go Either Way

4. Noctis

To me, the biggest problem with FFXIII and its two sequels was Lightning, the principal protagonist. On paper, she sounds like a fantastic character. A former soldier who abandoned the fascist regime she served in order to protect the younger sister who she raised like a daughter, ultimately learning to move past her grief and suffering to become the world€™s savior. That sounds fantastic... and it could€™ve been, if the writers had remembered to give her an actual personality instead of just making her a female Cloud, minus the subtle humanity and character arc. At this point, it€™s up in the air whether Noctis will be a similarly boring, mopey protagonist as his predecessor, though from what we€™ve seen so far, it could honestly go either way. In the demo, Noctis barely spoke at all, with most of the dialogue coming from his friends, and him only responding with nods or one word answers. The full game will no doubt show a more fully formed personality complete with pathos and relationships to other characters, but for now, Noctis looks like he could turn out to be another Lightning.
