3. There Aren't Many FMV Sequences
FMV sequences have been a staple of the FF franchise since Final Fantasy VII took the world by storm two decades ago.
High-budget cinematics have been employed to sell big, epic moments to fans and make them totally unforgettable: Aeris' death in FFVIII, the ballroom in FFVIII and that first Blitzball match in FFX to name just three.
Sadly, though, FFXV seems rather low on cinematics, instead opting to tell much of the story through in-engine cut-scenes, which while fine, does take a little of that distinctive, robust FF sheen away from the game.
Yes, these sequences are expensive to produce, but it feels like Square Enix cut corners a little by not including them, and also by simply clipping scenes from the Kingsglaive movie and including them on occasion.
