5. The Bromance Works Surprisingly Well
Considering that the game's story is pretty forgettable, who expected there to be much effort actually put into any of the characters?
Look, Noctis is no Cloud by any means, but a surprising amount of care has actually been paid to the central bromance between Noctis and his three pals, Ignis, Prompto and Gladiolus.
It helps a lot that an insane amount of seemingly off-the-cuff dialogue has been recorded for those driving sections, and though it will repeat eventually and not all of it is top-tier stuff (but we'll get to that in a moment), it does at least make the central bro-bond feel authentic and convincing.
For one thing, the party members sure are more memorable than the dullards from XIII, even if they do undeniably look like a boy band.
