6. Surprisingly Likeable Protagonists

There's been a lot of mockery about the game's four protagonists, Noctis and his buddies Ignis, Prompto and Gladiolus, namely that they look like a freaking boy band.

That said, the road trip element of the game is actually surprisingly entertaining, driven forward by some solid banter between the characters, even if it does venture into cringe-worthy territory quite frequently (especially Prompto bleating about chocobos all the time).

If nothing else, the heroes aren't as forgettable as the protagonists from the last two core games, even if the game could've gone much further with a more fleshed-out main questline.

They're still anime fanbait at the end of the day, but at least they're pretty endearing within that wheelhouse.
