15. Jackie Brown
We've already established that GTA V has a particular fetish for movie references in the
first Easter eggs article dedicated to the game with the discovery of the No Country For Old Men Egg out in the desert, and that is very much just the tip of the iceberg. Though the decor is different in places, Floyd's apartment (which is packed with depraved little Easter eggs like the unfortunate teddy bear, and the bath time sex doll) will look suspiciously similar to fans of Quentin Tarantino's films, as it is modeled on Melanie's apartment from Jackie Brown. The photos on the fridge take the place of Tarantino's pillar photos, and the colour scheme is somewhat different, but the lay-out is almost identical, and there's no mistaking the familiarity, even with the grubby gloss. The Tarantino-like flourishes in the storytelling are very evident for any cinephiles with an appreciation for the director's heist-focused films, particularly Jackie Brown, whose suburban crime notes and grotesque characters could slot perfectly into a GTA game. They are cut from the same cloth, molded from the same genetic detritus, and neither has a particularly glamorous view of the underworld, regardless of how fascinated both clearly are.
