Hitman 2 Review: 5 Ups & 5 Downs

4. The Story Is Totally Dull

Hitman 2
IO Interactive

Granted, the narrative has never really been the selling point of the Hitman games, but the story here is especially forgettable and pointless, even for the basement-low standards of the series.

The game hurls a heap of names and faces at the player but, honestly, you're unlikely to remember many of them and may even find yourself mentally checking out as the story segments play out.

The only vaguely interesting aspect of the plot is the relationship between Agent 47 and his handler Diana, though even that ultimately goes in a direction that's likely to rub many fans the wrong way.

Honestly, if the writing's going to be this low-effort, IO may as well not even bother and just train the focus strictly on standalone assassination missions.
