Hitman 6: 10 Essential Things It Must Fix From Absolution

4. Overhaul The Save System

The save system of previous installments was eliminated in favor of checkpoints and while it can be argued that it presented a new challenge by eliminating the temptation of simply falling back to repeatedly reloading saves when things go pear shaped, it quickly devolved into a tedious game of trial and error. Another drawback was the game's tendency of respawning characters every time a checkpoint was reloaded resulting in formerly dead NPCs coming back. Sometimes you'd even find yourself staring at the very character you robbed of clothing prior to reloading, and while that's an admittedly amusing situation, things like that only served to emphasise the 'small world' feel of the game, and speaking of small - it quickly became obvious that missions were broken down into smaller chunks to accommodate the checkpoint system. But we'll get to that in a little bit.
