Hitman 6: 10 Essential Things It Must Fix From Absolution
3. Disguises That Actually Work
It's safe to say that contract killing is a profession which requires some discretion - after all, how useful is an assassin when you can spot him among a crowd of hundreds? The ability to effectively camouflage oneself is paramount to remaining undetected: whether it's the hustle and bustle of a densely populated city or the tranquility of small town, middle-of-frigging-nowhere suburbia; a successful assassination means the target shouldn't suspect his/her impending handshake with the grim reaper. To this end Agent 47 employs a wide range of disguises to move freely without arousing suspicion. From the fairly nondescript uniform of a policeman to the clerical garb of a minister, there's an costume for every occasion no matter how outlandish. Are you feeling the overwhelming urge to deck yourself out with the latest in poultry fashion? There's a suit for that too. Goodbye follicly challenged merchant of death, hello fowl-with-a-shotgun. And while the disguise mechanics for previous games were spotty at best and downright bipolar at worst, it seemed IO Interactive made major strides going forward with Hitman: Blood Money- characters reacted differently depending on your attire and wouldn't open fire over inoffensive behaviour like 'walking too slow'. However, Absolution tweaked the disguise system for the worse; sometimes it wasn't possible to get through an area without draining the instinct meter or rolling from cover to cover and hoping that it wouldn't be noticed.
