Hitman: The Dark Past Of Agent 47 Explained
The Franchise vs ICA
After the events previous in Hitman Silent Assassin, Hitman Contracts followed only two years later. This was rushed because the studio being pressured to meet corporate deadlines, in turn, Contracts essentially became a best of games, with remasters of the missions from Codename 47. So there isn’t much in terms of new lore. But four years on from there, Agent 47 would return in the franchises most beloved entry yet, Hitman: Bloody Money.
Here places out the evens of Alexander Leland Cayne’s obsession with Agent 47. Leading a journalist in for the scoop of the century, Alexander regals past contracts by 47. Rick Henderson, the reporter lured into all this is eventually killed by 47, just like Alexander. But not before he gets a hold of the 47s bone marrow in the pursuit to create his own perfect clones.
As the leader of The Franchise, it was in Alexander’s best interests to not only bring down the ICA, but to take out their leading assassin. The Franchise was very similar to the ICA, they had connections and assassins everywhere. This was thanks in part to Alexander’s past in the FBI as its former Director. In 2005 Alexander had succeeded in bring down the ICA from the inside and was close to having his grasp on 47, but thanks to the quick thinking of Diana, not everything went to plan.
Though once the ICA is put out of business, Diana moves over to The Franchise and helps them find and supposedly kill Agent 47. He is poisoned and thought to be dead, but the last surviving member of the ICA had a plan. Even if 47 wasn’t completely clued in.
Having 47 “killed” was the only way to get him close to Alexander. Before being cremated, Diana places his signature Baller Pistoles on his chest and kisses 47. Though just before she covered her lips with an antidote. This brings him back from the dead and he ends Alexander and the Franchise for good.
