Ranking Every Final Fantasy Composer

25. Yukiko Takada

Works – XIV

Since XIV was relaunched as A Realm Reborn, which resulted in almost all of the tracks created for the disastrous original version of the game being dropped, it has grown and grown from a musical standpoint and currently boasts over 500 tracks in total.

The fact that almost all of those have been created by Masayoshi Soken is nothing short of superhuman. He has had some support, though it pales in comparison to the amount received by the leads on other games, with only one composer contributing more than a small handful of pieces.

That someone is Yukiko Takada, whose body of work on Heavensward, The Far Edge Of Fate, Stormblood and Shadowbringers is her only credited composition work to date, though she has worked extensively on arrangements of Soken’s pieces in addition to this.

Her tracks are unfortunately far from memorable. ‘Hyper Rainbow Z’ is perhaps her most upbeat, though ‘Parting Ways’ also makes for gentle listening.

Takada needs more opportunities to stand out, though given that XIV will likely remain Soken’s domain for the rest of its life, they might prove difficult to come by.
