Ever since their debut in the very first Super Mario Bros., the cannon-like Bullet Bills have become some of Nintendo's most iconic baddies. Games like Mario Kart and Mario Strikers Charged have given players the chance to transform and harness the power of these guys, however it wasn't until Super Mario 3D World that the feature of actually being able to fire an armada of cannons of their own was first introduced.

Found in Question Mark Blocks, the Cannon Box power up drops on a character's head and immediately changes to the colour to match either Mario, Luigi, Toad, Peach or Rosalina. The box will immediately begin firing cannonballs in the direction the player is facing from a small launcher, and can be charged up by pressing the 'X/Y' buttons.

Cannonballs can break blocks, smash through cracked walls, damage characters and pick up both items and coins. Cannons have been a staple of Mario games since the beginning, however this simple additional feature is not only something new for fans of the franchise to play with, it also brings a whole new world of fun to airship and castle stages.
