What We Know About Resident Evil: Village So Far

This is a huge question floating around soon after the demo dropped. Resident Evil hasn't really taken a step into vampires or vampiric creatures before - it could be just what it needs to bring some new blood into the mix. Either way, in the trailer we can see Lady Dimitrescu sitting at an ornate vanity and we can definitely see her reflection.

She is also wearing a beautiful necklace, and as she lives in a very fancy mansion with some very fancy ornate vanities, it is doubtful our Lady would be wearing iron or other more common metals. It would probably be silver - which is again another hint that the family are not generic vampires. Finally, in the demo, you get attacked by one of the daughters who notably, has perfect teeth even a dentist would be jealous of - so no fangs. It's rather safe to assume that they aren't our garden variety vampires.

So what are they? Knowing Umbrella and Chris Redfield's involvement, it's probably some variant of a virus not unlike the E-Virus that plagued the Bakers. Mrs Baker specifically had horrific insect powers which we can see somewhat replicated with the daughters disappearing into clouds of bugs in Resident Evil 8.

It could also be a variant of the G-Virus seen in Resident Evil 2, which is passed along via orally implanting parasites into the palm of the hand (which we have definitely seen Lady Dimitrescu doing), and can only be accepted by hosts with suitable genetic makeup (hence the candidates and rejects list)
