Stone Cold Steve Austin is arguably the biggest single star in wrestling history, with possibly only Hulk Hogan up there with the Texas Rattlesnake, and along with The Rock, was one of the superstars who dominated the late 1990's/early 2000's and who is probably the most prominent star in older fans' eyes. Austin hasn't featured as the main cover star of a WWE game since WWF War Zone back in 1998, and the decision to feature him once more would go down well with fans, especially if a Monday Night Wars mode was the main feature. His battles with Vince McMahon were legendary and ultimately helped WWE win the war against WCW, and you have to suspect that he would feature more prominently on WWE television to help promote the game, which in itself is enough reason behind this pick. A huge fan favourite, his anti-hero status and the symbollic status as an icon of the Attitude Era makes him a solid candidate, and the reaction to his sporadic appearances on WWE television since his retirement show that fan support is still there. But if 2K Games and the WWE want more WWE stars who took it to WCW, but who are still prominent today on WWE television, their options should definitely include one of the biggest team-ups in industry history...
