WWE 2K24 Early Reviews: 10 Major Details We Learned

9. Back-And-Forth Strikes Not So Much?

IGN's previewer/reviewer was particularly turned off by the new turn-based strike battles that act as a mid-match mini game. They're an excuse for WWE crowds to chant "yay" and "boo" depending on their favourites in real life. In-game, they're supposed to act as a potential momentum pendulum.

Win out, and you'll be on the front foot. Fail to trigger the correct button press within the shrinking window three times and you'll lose the battle. According to some who messed around with the feature whilst play testing though, it's unclear just how much is gained or lost during all of this.

Losing a back-and-forth strike fest then still being on top wouldn't make any sense.

Admittedly, this is something the devs can refine before 2K24 comes out. They probably will, because it's surely vital that anyone skilled at these mini-games is rewarded for it. There is a worry it'll grind matches to a halt and wreck the flow. Hopefully not!
