The good news is that 2K has mastered the Slingshot Tech.

Transitions between actual gameplay and real-life footage from the archives look better than ever. Slingshot debuted a few years back and impressed the hell out of everybody. This year, the developers have optimised it, so everyone is in for a proper treat when they're ploughing through Showcase.

Of course, anyone who doesn't really like the on-rails feel to the mode won't see anything to change their minds. This is very-much a guided experience that actually plays more like a tutorial for some of the game's trickier mechanics whilst also brushing up on WWE history. Don't go in expecting anything completely new.

There is a reason why Showcase has become one of 2K's most popular modes though. Slingshot's seamless transitions are a big, big reason why so many gamers reach for this feature first when they boot up the game.

On that note, something else is worth saying...
