10 Best Darts Players In The World Today
8. 8. Martin Adams
Even at the age of 59 and after deciding against testing himself against the cream of the crop in the PDC, Martin Adams remains one of the sport's very best.
Some will say that his long-term association with the BDO means that he should not be included in this list but his performances at the Grand Slam of Darts in November proved that he still possesses the ability to compete at the top level.
His win and 104.82 average against Ian White was one of the highlights of the competition and he was unfortunate not to reach the last eight in Wolverhampton after losing to Kim Huybrechts in a last-leg decider.
The three-time world champion lost in the first round at Lakeside in January, but any fears that he was starting to wane were put emphatically to the side when he won the Dutch Open and hit an average of 111 on the way to the Isle of Man Open final.
They are minor tournaments in comparison to what the PDC offers, but coming through fields where participation levels can reach anywhere between 250 and 500 on a regular basis is impressive and something that not every player in the world could do.
