7. Old Lions
In 2006, Englands hopes of World Cup success hinged on an England team dubbed The Golden Generation. With Beckham, Gerrard, Rooney and Owen, what could possibly go wrong? . . . ahem. With that in mind, Carlsberg chose to gather their own collection of England players as part of their World According to Carlsberg advertising campaign. Shilton, Beardsley and other golden age England players take us through their pre-game morning routines, before they all assemble as a pub team that would make most football traditionalists weep. For the cherry on top, Sir Bobby Robson appears as the man deemed fit enough to manage the cross-generation collective, giving a pre-game talk before the team run out to become victorious through an 8-0 score line. Aside from a few scenarios, such as Charltons booking and Pearces phone call, the majority of the players interaction and in-game footage was unscripted, as it felt the footballers would lack the necessary acting skills. Not only did this help to convey the communal spirit found within the dressing room and on the pitch, but the lack of wooden acting meant we were still able to pay attention to the finest details included to represent a standard pub team Stuart Pearces pink shirt a nod towards any player whos forgotten to separate his whites in the wash. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9TOF8kgCTx0
