10 Best Golf Players Never To Win A Major

Lee Westwood will always hold the honour of ending Tiger Woods's 281-week record run at the top of the world rankings and being seen as the best player on the planet for a combined total of almost six months is remarkable given his fall down the standings during the early 2000s.

However, failing to win a major tournament during his time among the elite may gnaw at the Englishman. Like Garcia, he has racked up many top-10 finishes - 18 to be precise - but none of his three runner-up placings saw him hold too much of a threat to the winner.

He held a narrow lead heading into the final round of the 2010 Masters before losing by three shots to Phil Mickelson while he was a distant second when Louis Oosthuizen demolished the field at the 2010 Open Championship.

As recently as April 2016, he made an unlikely challenge for The Masters after Jordan Spieth's capitulation on the back nine but he eventually finished three shots adrift.

He holds as many as 42 victories as a professional but at the age of 43, has his time for winning a major passed him by?
