10 Best Golf Players Never To Win A Major

8. Luke Donald

Luke Donald has never finished higher than third place at a major tournament but he has spent over a year of his professional career at world number one which makes him one of our easiest selections.

It was Donald's consistency that got him to the top of the tree in May 2011. He only had two top-five finishes that counted towards his ranking position but winning the Accenture Match Play in 2011 helped his cause, as did claiming victory at the Madrid Masters and BMW Championship.

He has rarely showcased his undoubted talent in the majors, though. Eight top-10 finishes over the course of a decade is solid but the Englishman will be hugely disappointed that he has failed to put together four rounds good enough to put him at least on the brink of not ending his career as one of only two men to have reached world number one and not won a major.

There is still time for Donald and losing ground in the world rankings may help him perform better with the spotlight being shone in other directions but he needs to put his game together sooner rather than later.
