7. Arsenal 2-4 Man United, 2005
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QKAPdB_4fu4 It was an encounter that has become infamous for the pre-match tunnel bust-up between Patrick Vieira and Roy Keane, but whether the drama had an impact on the game, its hard to tell. One thing is for certain, and that is that Manchester United blitzed a side who were on the cusp of a 50 league-game unbeaten stretch only three months earlier. Gone was the tag of The Invincibles, and Manchester United leapfrogged Arsene Wengers side into second place and completed a home-and-away double over the north London giants.
''If Vieira wants to intimidate our players and thinks that Gary Neville is an easy target, Im not having it. - Roy Keane, February 2005.
With Vieira having given Arsenal an early leader with a thumping header, Ryan Giggs levelled matters with a deflected effort. The lead was restored for the Gunners, however, through Dennis Bergkamp, before two quick-fire goals from a 19 year old Cristiano Ronaldo in the second half turned the game on its head. With the clock ticking down into the final minutes, John OShea neglected the opportunity to waste time in the corner and instead delicately chipped Manuel Almunia with a perfectly-weighted lob that Ronaldinho would have been proud of. It was the night that Manchester United played like Brazil, spurred on by Keanes indignant behaviour in the tunnel.
