Fans and analysts alike have run out of superlatives to describe Kevin De Bruyne over the last 12 months, with the 26-year-old Belgian playing a starring role in Manchester City's record-breaking Premier League season. De Bruyne contributed with 12 strikes and made 20 more for teammates in all competitions, but his role in the team goes far beyond goals and assists.

Blessed with remarkable passing and shooting abilities, as well as an innate ability to read the game and always be one step ahead of his opponents, De Bruyne is one of the best playmakers on the planet right now.

Covering every blade of grass over the course of the average game, the former Wolfsburg and Chelsea man controls matches with consummate ease, dictating the tempo of play and confounding the opposition with perfectly-placed passes that most players could simply not pick out. As part of a vibrant and offensively-minded Belgium team, he's scored 13 goals in 57 appearances so far and could definitely help his country go all the way.
