8. The Dumbuster
Finished: 58th Probably one of the most spectacular crashes of the day - bit sad really because it was possibly on for one of the fastest times of the day - however the ramp, which was subsequently turned round to provide a shallower jump, proved their undoing. Their cart - while very aerodynamic, well it was a plane, was pretty unbalanced so when it hit the jump it landed nose first catapulting the soapbox down the finish line. The results were very spectacular - styrofoam went everywhere causing the track crew to break out the brushes to get the track clean for the next competitors. However, the drivers weren't so lucky - while one driver seemed to escape with just a few bruises and perhaps a dented ego - his co-driver was left bloodied and quite badly bruised in the experience. Thankfully they didn't seem too worse for wear later in the day.
