6. What If... The NBA Hadn't Vetoed Chris Paul's Trade To The Los Angeles Lakers?

In 2011, the league vetoed a trade that would have sent Chris Paul to the Los Angeles Lakers. The league owned the New Orleans Hornets at the time and they vetoed the trade on the grounds that the Hornets would be better off keeping Paul. However, less than a week later, they approved a trade sending Paul to the Los Angeles Clippers. That's shady as hell and now we can only imagine what would have come from a potential alliance of Chris Paul and Kobe Bryant.

Kobe was coming off two NBA Championship victories in 2009 and 2010, and that championship squad was still largely intact. Had the Lakers acquired Chris Paul, and kept that core mostly together, they would have had enough fire power to make another run at the Larry O'Brien Trophy, and Kobe's coveted sixth ring. It certainly would have been a better move than acquiring Dwight Howard, who clashed with Kobe and only lasted one season in the City of Angels. However, it's impossible to say if Kobe's body would have fared any better in this scenario, and his injured body would have made the hunt for gold largely moot.
