10 Biggest Premier League Surprise Packages So Far

9. Jonny Evans, Manchester United (Games Played 19, Goals 3, Assists 1)

Evans has been at Manchester United for what seems like forever. He has had three or four season of being a fringe player and with Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand ahead of him nobody was surprised (he was very nearly sold two years ago). This season however, Evans has excelled in every opportunity presented to him and now finds himself being United's arguably most comfortable centre back. Ferguson has shown his faith by playing Evans in some key matches this year and the Northern Irishman has repaid him with 3 goals. It's always great to see a player work their way up from the reserves and loan spells, and with the experience he has gained in the last couple of years, Evans has shined. He has shown calmness against all types of strikers and has also shown he can read the game well much like his senior team mate Rio Ferdinand. It should also be mentioned that you can tell when a player is doing well when you feel their absence. Manchester United fans have, this season more than any other, missed Jonny Evans when he has been rested. Move over Rio?
