10 Biggest Prospects On The WTA Tour
9. Marketa Vondrousova
It is natural for any tennis association to have high hopes for any of their emerging talent but Czech Republic officials will be particularly excited about the potential of Marketa Vondrousova.
As far as singles' competitions at the Grand Slam girls' events are concerned, she has been less than impressive but she won back-to-back doubles titles alongside Miriam Kolodziejova at both the Australian Open and Roland Garros in 2015 and that has only stoked the fires ahead of her introduction onto the ITF Tour.
Vondrousova does not turn 17 until the summer but she has already won three second-tier events, although it should be pointed out that each of her titles have been won on clay.
Nevertheless, her 2016 campaign on the dirt could be the setting of her breakthrough. She has ranking points to defend but the teenager is proving to be a handful on that particular surface and it would not come as a surprise if she was granted a wildcard into qualifying for one of the WTA tournaments that are scheduled across Europe.
Some may look to her girls' success coming in doubles but she has proven that she is a winner and can handle the big occasion.
