10 Boxing Fights That Need To Be Made

5. Danny Garcia vs. Ruslan Provodnikov

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QcL8tlInvNM A battle between these two power-punching light welterweight world champions could be an explosive affair; American Garcia holds the WBA 'Super' and WBC belts, whilst Provodnikov, of Russia, carries the WBO strap. Garcia has risen to prominence in the last couple of years after knockouts of Amir Khan and Erik Morales, and gruelling 12 round victories over Zab Judah and Lucas Matthysse. He's undefeated after 27 contests, in which 16 victims have failed to hear the final bell. Provodnikov exploded onto the world scene in March last year, when he went to war with Timothy Bradley in the 2013 Fight of the Year. Provodnikov eventually came up short in his bid to acquire Bradley's WBO welterweight crown, but the battering he gave the American landed him a shot at Mike Alvarado's WBO light welterweight title. Last October, Provodnikov completed a demolition job on Alvarado, who retired at the end of the 10th round. Unfortunately, boxing politics stands in the way of this fight being made anytime soon. Garcia is signed to Golden Boy Promotions/Showtime, whilst Provodnikov plies his trade on HBO with Top Rank, Inc.
