8. Lee Bowyer And Kieran Dyer's On Pitch Brawl

Newcastle United were losing 3-0 to Aston Villa at St James' Park when suddenly Lee Bowyer and Kieran Dyer (both who played for the Magpies at the time) started fighting with each other in front of 50,000 people. Both players offered grovelling apologies after the shameful end to the match and have since repaired their friendship. Gareth Barry who split the pair up, told the BBC after the game:

"You don't want to see that happen on the pitch, it's only right to try and break it up.

"I've never seen it in a game I've been involved in, there was obviously a lot of frustration boiling over.

"If you look at the two players involved they just want to do everything to win the game. Both players lost their head and it's unfortunate but I'm sure they regret it."

Dyer was banned for three matches while Bowyer was hit with a four-game suspension and £200,000 fine having been deemed the aggressor.
