10 Footballers Totally Wasted At Their Clubs

5. Luke Shaw (Man Utd)

Once heralded as the ‘English Gareth Bale’ and classed as one of the finest young full-backs the country had seen for years, Shaw’s career has taken a total nosedive since his record-breaking move to United. In fact, if you add up all of Shaw’s appearances for United over the last four seasons, it’s fewer than he earned in just two years in the Premier League with Southampton.

Of course, he has struggled with injuries during that time, but the 22-year-old has also been majorly ignored by successive United managers, with current coach Jose Mourinho unafraid to openly criticise the young defender on more than one occasion.

Frankly, it seems like the right time for everyone to admit that Shaw’s move to United hasn’t worked out and perhaps never will. Shaw is still young and has bags of potential, but all of that talent is going to waste at United, and if the Red Devils aren’t going to give him more of a chance, it’s time for the youngster to move on.
