10 Footballers Totally Wasted At Their Clubs

4. Riyad Mahrez (Leicester)

Poor Riyad Mahrez must be wondering what he’s got to do to be allowed to leave Leicester. While other stalwarts of the title-winning side like N’Golo Kanté and Danny Drinkwater have been allowed to leave for relatively modest fees, Leicester have clung onto Mahrez with everything they’ve got.

The player has made it pretty clear that he’d like to leave and was allegedly the subject of a sizeable bid from Man City back in January, but still Leicester denied him his freedom. Of course, the Foxes are well within their rights to hold onto one of their best players while he’s under contract, but Mahrez has served the club well and it seems only fair to let him move on and perhaps win some more trophies while he can.

At the age of 27, Mahrez is in his peak years and could bring a lot to a top-tier side. He’s never quite hit the same heights as the 2015-16 season but has remained a consistent performer, chipping in with vital goals and assists time and time again. If City or another big team arrive with a big bid this summer, Mahrez will probably do all he can to make the move finally happen.
