That is because much like TBK, Bentley had initially shown the promise of the man so many had tipped him to emulate, but once the comparisons became ever present, and the weight of expectations were placed on his shoulders, the wheels kinda fell off.

At one time, Bentley was one of English football's most highly touted prospects, having made his England debut, and made a big-money move to Tottenham Hotspur in the space of just 12 months.

However, Bentley would fail to establish himself as a first-team regular during his five years at White Hart Lane and would be released by the club in 2013. Bentley would later reveal that he had fallen out of love with the game during this time, and ultimately made the decision to retire from football aged just 29.
