Everyone in football couldn't help but be delighted for Rickie Lambert when he made the move to Liverpool back in 2014.

Released from Anfield as a youngster, Lambert built his career back up through the lower leagues with spells at clubs like Rochdale and Bristol Rovers, but it was his time with Southampton which shot him into the limelight.

The Saints stormed from League One to the Premier League with Lambert leading the line to the tune of 20+ goals a season in both the second and third tier. It didn't stop there for Lambert either, as he netted regularly for Southampton as they cemented their place back in the top flight.

His dream move back to Liverpool then was expected to be a massive success, but whether he shrunk under the pressure or simply ran out of steam, Lambert only had two goals to show for his time on Merseyside.

The striker lasted only one season with his boyhood club before making a move to West Brom.
