10 Former Players Birmingham City Could Do With Now

3. Andros Townsend

Andros Townsend might be the one who got away for nearly half the teams in England, at this stage. He may be just 23 years old but he has been subject to nine different loan spells since 2009. Talk about Spurs making him earn his stripes before granting him his opportunity - either that, or they were just keeping him busy before they found something for him to do. Birmingham City were his second-last loan, and the last time he has plied his trade outside of the English top-flight. He was a 21 year old when he was thrust into the Birmingham starting XI and didn€™t let the side down, impressing in his 15 appearances for the Blues. Townsend is certainly a quality player - nobody is disputing that. There is a reason that he has been in and around the England set-up for the last year. The powerful wide-man provides width, accurate crosses and explosive shots. Spurs supporters have been crying out for Mauricio Pochettino to afford him more opportunities in the starting line-up this season. Championship clubs, of course, have no chance of landing the England international but Birmingham City supporters can dream, can€™t they?
