10 Former Players Leeds Utd Could Do With Now

6. Adam Johnson

Sunderland winger Adam Johnson is another player whose contributions for Leeds United could be counted on one hand, but judging by his performances in the eight years since, there is no doubt that he would stride into the Leeds United starting line-up and would be far and away the best player at the club. A 19 year old prodigy at Middlesbrough, the left-winger spent a month on loan at Leeds United in the Championship in order to toughen him up and enjoy some first-team experience. He got off to a flying start, receiving the man-of-the-match award on his debut, but found it hard to impress from thereafter and returned to the north-east after five games. Once he established himself in the first-team at Middlesbrough, the €˜jinky' winger played 120 times for the club before wrapping up a big-money move to Manchester City in February 2010. 97 appearances and 15 goals later, the FA Cup and Premier League winner penned a four-year contract at Sunderland where he has continued to provide goals and assists, including priceless strikes against Newcastle United and former employers Manchester City. What Leeds United supporters would do for another slice of the eleven-times capped wide-man.
