11 Future Newcastle United Managers

Who will be the next to drink from the most poisonous of managerial chalices?

Hype. Hire. Sack. Repeat. This cycle had been absent from a club synonymous with false dawns and disappointment since Kevin Keegan's second stint came to an end in 2008 but with Alan Pardew off on his heroic return to Crystal Palace, the hype machine whirred into life, spewing out the names of several top level European managers before inevitably coming to a stop on John Carver (at least for now). A skilled approach to 'brown-nosing' meant that Pardew, of all people, brought stability to the most unstable of hot seats, and with the club claiming to be looking for a long term solution to their managerial vacancy, it seems that both the stability and the fidelity are still top of the pops. The likes of Graeme Souness, Ruud Gullit and Sam Allardyce all had stronger CVs than 2012's Premier League Manager of the Year but lasted less than a quarter of the time he has managed, and those aren't the kind of appointments that will ever get made again. And rightly so. It takes a brave man to take this monumental job in the first place, and that will be the case in the summer unless (and some might say it's a big unless) Carver gets the job forever. So who might the Newcastle board look to in the summer if they really are going to deliver on their promise of hiring someone for the long-term?
