10 Greatest Bargains In Premier League History

8. Tim Cahill

Tim Cahill had spent six years at Millwall between 1998 and 2004, and he was largely seen as a good Championship player. He had performed particularly well during their brilliant FA Cup run in 2004, scoring in the semi-final win over Sunderland, and this made Everton sit up and take notice. David Moyes signed the Australian midfielder for £1.5m, and although there were some who questioned whether he would be able to make the step up to the Premier League, he ended up becoming a Toffees legend. He became one of the best in the country at arriving late in the box and scoring goals, with Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard perhaps the only ones better at the time. Time and time again he would pop up with crucial goals, often scoring against Liverpool in the Merseyside derby, and he had a gritty side to him which made him a born winner. Cahill remained at Goodison Park until 2012, when age began to catch up with him. In total he scored 68 goals in 278 appearances for Everton; highly impressive statistics for a midfielder.
