10 Greatest Female Fighters In MMA History

3. Ronda Rousey

If star power alone was the only measuring stick for greatness, then Ronda Rousey would easily be occupying the number one spot on our list. She is one of only a small handful of MMA fighters who have gone on to become a mainstream star. Her ability to dispatch opponents quickly, combined with her marketable persona, convinced UFC President Dana White to start a women's division. In truth, if not for Rousey, the UFC may not have any women under contract, even in 2019.

Besides appearing in major motion pictures and on magazine covers, the former Olympic judo bronze medalist was also an outstanding fighter. She won her first twelve pro fights, and it wasn't until her eighth bout that an opponent was able to make it out of the first round. Rousey defeated former UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion Miesha Tate (twice), reigning Bellator flyweight queen Julia Budd, and Cat Zingano.

She was also the inaugural UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion and had six successful title defenses. Sure, her career ended on a bit of a sour note with consecutive losses, but her record is still one of the best in the business.
