10 Greatest Wimbledon Champions Of All Time

1. Roger Federer

Roger Federer is regarded by many of the top professionals, commentators and pundits associated with tennis as the greatest player to have ever graced the Earth. He appears to glide across the court and send winners back over the net with ease. He truly is at one with the game and has mastered every aspect of the technical side of tennis. At 32 years of age and currently ranked number three in the world, Federer has already achieved so much on the court. There are numerous facts that highlight his genius so here's just a few. He has reached 25 Grand Slam singles finals, 10 in a row. He is the only man to reach at 23 consecutive Grand Slam semi-finals or finals and he has won a total of 17 majors in his singles career. Those figures are astounding and clearly highlight Federer's dominance over the majors, even in an era when Rafael Nadal has dominated the clay court slam that is The French Open. This just goes to prove how prolific Roger has been across all surfaces, and he even stripped Nadal of his French Open title in 2009. At Wimbledon, Federer has won seven men's singles titles, equalling the record set by Pete Sampras. These seven titles included five in a row between 2003 and 2007, a period where he utterly dominated grass court tennis. Even after his defeat in the final of Wimbledon 2014, Boris Becker said Federer is "the greatest of all time". His style, record and warm personality make him a Wimbledon great and if the best and brightest in the game are to believe, it makes him the greatest ever. It was a tough decision to pick the top 5 Wimbledon champions of all time for both the men's and women's. If you disagree or have any thoughts then leave a comment below.
