10 High-Profile Spurs Bust-Ups

5. Benoit Assou-Ekotto & Benjamin Moukandjo

During the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, Cameroon suffered a 4-0 first round thrashing at the hands of fellow Group A side Croatia and disharmony was abound in the African camp as Spurs left back Benoit Assou-Ekotto headbutted his own team-mate Benjamin Moukandjo. Granted, this wasn't really anything to do with Spurs directly, but the fact that Assou-Ekotto was (and still is) a Spurs player at the time, it's certainly relevant. It may well have contributed to the fact that Assou-Ekotto has not been named in the Spurs squads for either the Premier League or Europa League this season. Assou-Ekotto is a controversial character in general and he is known for not even liking football, despite playing it at the highest level, but this was certainly a low-point of his career. Cameroon coach Volker Finke labelled the incident "disgusting" and bemoaned the lack of discipline shown.
