https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q355qHIBIMg Almost an afterthought, Manny Gamburyan was in the opening bout on the Fight Pass preliminary portion of the UFC 178 card - in other words, the least watched portion of the event. Despite that, he earned $50,000 (25K to show and another 25K to win) in a defeat of Cody Gibson. What does that mean? It means a guy fighting in the least watched fight of the night made more than a guy (Chris Cariaso) fighting in the main event, and challenging for the title no less. Gamburyan was coming off a loss, which itself followed a loss changed to a no contest when Denis Siver tested positive for steroids, so that explains his position on the fight card - but little explains his salary. Did the WEC pay that well?
