When Uruguayan hitman Luis Suarez signed for Barcelona, his reputation preceded him in more ways than one. The gifted frontman had a history of controversial incidents, and was serving a ban for biting Italy's Giorgio Chiellini at the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

It was not the first time Suarez had bitten an opponent, and the club were taking no chances; Suarez had a volatile disposition and was frequently embroiled in the darker side of the 'Beautiful Game.'

Earlier in his career, He had earned the nickname “The cannibal of Ajax," after Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf referred to an incident during the Eredivisie League match between Ajax and PSV in 2010. Shocking television images appeared to show him biting Otman Bakkal, the PSV Eindhoven midfielder. Barcelona duly placed a 'No Biting' clause, just in case Suarez decided to channel his inner Hannibal Lecter!
