10 Lessons Learned From UFC Fight Night: Bader vs. St. Preux

4. Gray Maynard Is Done

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f9Cco4uTxjY He went through wars with Frankie Edgar that probably took years off his career - and now it's really showing. Ross Pearson is no slouch, but Gray Maynard should have had the advantage in this fight. He's a vet, and in the past, Pearson would have been a tough but solid victory for "The Bully." Now? Gray Maynard gets knocked out again. Too many knockouts, especially in a row, are the calling card for retirement in MMA. Maynard is at that point. He was an entertaining fighter, but watching him get hurt isn't entertaining at all. He was controlling the fight with Pearson until he got caught, and while anyone can get caught, that's too many times for Maynard. The Pearson loss marks three knockout losses in a row. It's time for Maynard to hang 'em up, and if he won't go willingly, the ufc needs to send him on his way.
