10 Little Known UFC Facts

5. There's A Whole Load Of Backstage Dissension

The success story of UFC as a 3 billion dollar company is at major odds with what fighters are earning on pay per view. This is just one of many reasons why fighter / promoter relations in the company are in constant discord. It seems as if there's always a public spat going on between Dana White and one of his top fighters. White being White he more often than not just airs this dirty laundry in public. A recent example is Jon Jones who didn't want to rematch with Alexander Gustafsson this year, White took to UFC.com and let everyone know about it. As for the fighters, what can they do, UFC is a monopoly, there's little other place to go. Not to criticise White however. Let's be honest here, a pay cheque is a pay cheque and a job is a job. The fighter's side of the story is that they have to go without paid work in a three month training camp, with various gym and workout costs. As such, when you are main eventing a PPV and only get paid $28,000, that's not that great a pay to be covering your overall training costs and expenses between fights. The example we are using there is Miesha Tate who got only 28k for her UFC 168 match against Ronda Rousey. Money isn't the only issue. UFC has a history of falling out spectacularly with many of their former legends, oftentimes because of personality clashes with White. Tito Ortiz is a notable example and even Randy Couture has been at odds with the company over his movie career.
